International conference on “Boosting East Africa Trade by Improving Transport” (BEAT IT) at Crown Plaza Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya on 25 th and 26 th September 2019.

Prof. Mwangi and Dr Muketha have since collaborated in an ongoing research to derive wider application
of Value Chain Model in the discipline and profession of planning. Plan Tom Odongo, a former CEC for Environment in the Nairobi City County participated in plenary panel session where conference participants asked questions and points of clarifications as well as made comments on the subjected addressed in the presentation.

TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR CAPACITY BUILDING IN MUNICIPAL INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK AND PRACTICES HELD ON 15TH-17TH OCTOBER 2019

The workshop was organized by County Government of Kiambu County Kiambu in collaboration
with Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP) which funded by the World Bank (WB) and
focuses on building the capacity of Kiambu County Government and the six Boards of
Municipalities in best institutional framework and practices for municipalities involved in
implementing municipal urban development programmes and projects that are funded by
conditional grants provided by development partners’ fund through the World Bank.

Mentorship in Planning for Counties

The  one-day seminar on" Mentorship in Planning for Counties was attended by students, members of staff and Planners outside University of Nairobi.  They actively participated in the deliberations and the relevance of areas of mentorship in planning for counties which were covered during the lively presentations, Q & A and plenary discussions were beneficial to the mentee students and other participants alike.

Our Master of Science student Ms. Mariana Wanza has been seconded to ICIPE where she will study the "Environmental Effects of the Inclusion of Insects Larvae in Chicken Feed."

This project is a collaboration between department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering with our sister department at JKUAT and ICIPE, represented by Dr. D. O. Mbuge, Dr. Mutwiwa and Dr. Tanga respectively
