The M.A. I students guided by the studio masters Prof. J. Ayonga and Dr. Elizabeth Wamuchiru undertook a one week long field work in Taveta town as part of the process in preparation of an Integrated Local Physical and Local Urban Development Plan (LP&LUDP). The activities involved carrying out key-informant interviews with the Sub-County Commissioner, sub-county Administrators, Physical Planning office and relevant officers. The team also conducted household surveys and focused group discussions with town residents and business operators.
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Nairobi recently organized a short course certificate training program, aimed at equipping second-year BA in Planning students with essential skills in cutting-edge technologies. The training, which took place from June 10th to July 7, 2023, covered a range of tools including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Remote Sensing, Google Earth Engine, Google Earth, and Kobo Collect. Led by Dr.
Mr. Micheal Muthuiya, Assistant Dean of Students, Faculty of the Built Environment conducted the session on drug abuse and substance use among university students which has become a global concern, considering the continued consumption of these illegal drugs and substances.
