KOEI AFRICA Staff pays courtesy call to the Department of Urban and Regional Planning on 24th October, 2023
Nairobi, Kenya – Friday, October 13, 2023 - In a momentous collaborative effort, the University of Nairobi (UoN) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) have officially launched the Centre for Urban-Rural Linkages in Africa (CURLA), marking a significant step toward bridging the urban-rural divide and promoting integrated and sustainable development across the continent.
To explore collaboration between Cornell University Centre for Cities and University of Nairobi - Centre for Urban Research and Innovations.
The meeting was graced by Partners from Slum Dwellers International. Deliberations focused on Slum Upgrading and Resilience in Urban Kenya. More

The M.A. I students guided by the studio masters Prof. J. Ayonga and Dr. Elizabeth Wamuchiru undertook a one week long field work in Taveta town as part of the process in preparation of an Integrated Local Physical and Local Urban Development Plan (LP&LUDP). The activities involved carrying out key-informant interviews with the Sub-County Commissioner, sub-county Administrators, Physical Planning office and relevant officers. The team also conducted household surveys and focused group discussions with town residents and business operators.
